NSW: Fire crews battle bushfire north of Newcastle

Up to 100 firefighters in New South Wales are battling a bushfire north of Newcastle
.. which has been burning since yesterday and is likely to threaten properties later today.

The fire started in the Medowie State Conservation Area at about 2 pm (AEDT) yesterday
.. 20 kms north of Raymond Terrace.

It's burnt out over 100 hectares of national parkland and private property.

Between 80 and 100 firefighters and other emergency personnel are working to protect
40 rural properties surrounding the fire.







The weather bureau has issued a fire warning for the Lower Central West Plains .. Eastern
Riverina .. Northern Riverina .. Southern Riverina and South Western regions.

The weather today is expected to be hot and dry .. with temperatures hitting 33 degrees celsius.
